GEOMETRY

Geometry
GEOMETRYGeometry is typically offered in Middle school or High school depending on the placement of the students. It is offered in a variety of different names like Honors Geometry, Accelerated Geometry, Geometry etc. Geometry is the branch of mathematics mainly concerned with two and three-dimensional figures and their properties. The Common Core Geometry curriculum is followed (CCCS). Students will use Algebra 1, inductive and deductive reasoning, constructions, measurement, and coordinate geometry to explore these properties.

In addition to this they will work in Mathematical Standards of Practice including:

  • Problem Solving and understanding the concept and designing a plan to solve word problems.
  • Abstract Reasoning and quantitative reasoning.
  • Constructing viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
  • Strategic use of right tools.
  • Learning to calculate precise values.
  • Mathematical Modeling.
  • Structures and make of Geometrical figures.
  • Repeated reasoning and regularity.
